News:
The World Pasty Championships at The Eden Project, Cornwall
Saturday 3rd March 2012
As you may be aware through the press that the Eden project is having a celebration day on Saturday 3rd March. This has hosts of fun & entertainment and also The World pasty championship to be held there. This is to celebrate the European status achieved in Cornwall but also to launch a celebration of St Piran’s day.
We are looking for bakers from outside the county to enter the profession open section. So all you Devonians and other counties that have your own version of the pasty are welcome to enter.
The competition is not aimed at giving accreditation to an individual company, rather to realise the extent this unique dish has travelled worldwide and the many regional variations that have developed over the years. Entries are welcome from any 2 people who work for you within the open professional class. All entries will receive 2 free tickets to Eden on the day to join in the fun.
Anyone not associated with the bakery industry can enter the open class in the amateur section. Bring your family to Eden and see if Gran's pasty is a world champion.
They are also looking for judges to help out. Accommodation can be provided and again 2 free tickets for the event. So if you fancy a short break in beautiful Cornwall why not come along.
The Eden Project is looking at developing this to a 3 day festival, extending the competition and the entertainment to encompass all things Cornish and to celebrate St Piran’s day.
Full details can be found on the Eden website or the World pasty championship site.
